May 6, 2025 – United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) Visit to NRC

The National Resilience College (NRC) was honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) led by Head Delegation Major General Felix Gedney on 6 May 2025 for a National Security Workshop Session at Hikmat Hall, Putrajaya. Following a courtesy lunch with the Commandant and senior faculty, the programme featured a comprehensive brief on NRC’s mission and curriculum, before Professor Ruhanas Harun of the National Defence University of Malaysia delivered a thought-provoking address on “Prospects for Order in the South China Sea: Cooperation or Conflict.” Her presentation—and the lively Q&A that followed—provided RCDS and NRC course members with nuanced perspectives on maritime stability, great-power dynamics and regional cooperation frameworks.

In their closing remarks, Head of Delegation Major General Felix Gedney and NRC Commandant Major General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng reaffirmed both institutions’ shared commitment to professional military education and evidence-based strategy. The visit underscored the depth of UK-Malaysia defence-education ties and set the stage for future exchanges, joint research projects and leadership development initiatives. NRC looks forward to building on this momentum and broadening collaboration with RCDS in the months ahead.
