Setting the Course for Cohort 7/2026

The official commencement of Cohort 7/2026 was marked by the Commandant’s Opening Address, formally drawing the curtain on a new chapter for the incoming Course Members (CMs). The Course Opening for NRC Cohort 7/2026 officiated by Maj Gen Abdul Karim bin Ahmad, the Commandant of NRC on January 6th. . In his remarks, the Commandant posed a fundamental question—“Why are you here?”—challenging the cohort to reflect deeply on purpose, intent, and responsibility beyond personal achievement.

Emphasising the essence of Statesmanlike Qualities and the role of leaders as Catalysts of Change, the Commandant highlighted the importance of experience, strategic maturity, and disciplined thinking in navigating complex national and global challenges. He further underscored the responsibility each CM carries—not only to the institutions they serve, but also to their families—reminding the cohort that leadership is tested as much by character as by intellect.

The session concluded with the formal appointment of the Course President (CP), Brig Gen Dato’ Hamdan bin Ahmad RMAF, Deputy Course President (DCP), Brig Gen Roshdan bin Ahmad and President Mess Committee (PMC), FAdm Mohd Amin bin Mat Tahir establishing the leadership and welfare structure for the cohort. Following a group photo session and lunch, the programme continued with academic briefings delivered by Major General Dato’ Abdul Rahim bin Mohd Yusuff (Rtd), Head of Academic and First Admiral Azhar bin Baharum, Senior Directing Staff (Navy), providing the cohort with key insights into academic matters, expectations, and the intellectual journey ahead.
